Hey guys welcome back so today i picked Up this Generac xt8000e Uh this is one of their newer generators I think it's about four years old And uh the 8000 is 8 000 continuous Watts and e Is for electric start now with that said The seller told me that this thing was a Good running machine And maybe only needs an oil change but You know i think there's a few other Things going on here hopefully Nothing much but you know i didn't ask Too many questions He listed it for 99 so even if it's a Complete piece of junk It's well worth it in parts not to Mention he Threw in three gas cans and a generator Cord Now just kind of going over this Quickly there's at least a few things i Need to deal with And the battery is definitely one of Them dead as a door nail Also you know i've noticed a few Assembly issues meaning you know maybe He didn't have a wrench Because these things are just you know Barely on there so i need to go kind of Go through it make sure there's nothing Else like that And also there's something up with the
Frame And the feet you know there's only three Points on the ground at any time so you Know so we've got a few things we need To adjust I haven't looked in the gas tank yet or Checked the oil out so i'm going to set You up at a stand And i think we'll start there just see What we're dealing with and If the oil looks good the gas looks good Maybe we'll bring it out See if we can't get it started Okay oil colors actually doesn't look Bad Maybe a little bit overfilled but The oil looks good Yeah i can smell the fuel it does not Smell fresh that's for sure Hopefully there's no rust i hate rust [Music] That looks nice i mean the fuel is old You can tell by the color but the tank Looks to be in very good shape That's one thing i'll give generic Credit for I have never picked one up with a rusted Tank So i don't know what they use in there But seems to be better than most That looks like a good vintage No water though so that's good Now unfortunately the fuel valve was Left on
So i just shut it off But that's never a good sign you know You know that that carb Could have issues this thing i think Is about four years old i haven't found Anything yet with a date on it Oh that might have a date It looks like it is year yr 14 and then a punch so that's probably 15 So yeah this is four to five years old So that is probably enough time to clog Those jets up Maybe not I can't see any reason for this i mean The wheels Just go through there and clip on There's nothing to adjust there and You know i was thinking maybe i could Put a few washers between This foot and here but unfortunately That looks like it's riveted on so you Know this seems to be A high side so not really sure the best Way to resolve this But you know when i rock it you might be Able to see It's like a good quarter inch that comes Off the ground So i'm just going to try loosening These bolts here And see if this thing can move around And possibly get that out of it i know It's not a big deal
On the grass it's really not going to Matter but I'm a little anal about these things so Can't hurt to try Thank All right so i just swapped the the feet So this foot was on the other side and This used to be the high side Now it's the low side By a quarter of an inch so I think we found our problem there's Something wrong with this foot From looking at it i can't see a problem But Nonetheless there is so the only option I have Besides ordering a new one is maybe Putting a spacer So that it doesn't go all the way up So i'll try that that doesn't work i can Always Try a new one okay plan b Gonna drill this rivet out uh plan a was Kind of a fail i was thinking i would Put a nut here as a spacer when it goes Through it would give me about a quarter Inch And then i would just nut it on the Bottom unfortunately there's Now not enough thread to do that so Plan b drill this out And put the spacer between the foot and This bracket And bolt it all together
[Music] So That should have been plan a i think Yeah it looks like i need to keep going [Music] Hmm Okay i think that worked out pretty well Looks like there is a metal Washer kind of um molded Into here so just a nut and bolt With some spacer and we should be good [Music] For better or worse This is what i came up with Much better no more shaky shaky There's not much more i want to do with This now you know aside from the Battery which i know needs to be Replaced i want to get this outside See if it'll start and go from there So before firing this thing up you know It's always a good idea When you're buying some used power Equipment is to double check The governor linkage you know not only Is it there And connected properly but does doesn't Move And it does but what happens is when the Machine is off It goes to full throttle and if you let It sit For a very long time that plate can get Frozen
In the full throttle position so when You start it up It's not going to do what it's supposed To in this case it feels fine You know the spring does feel actually Kind of weak the governor's spring so Be interesting to see how this thing Runs If at all All right maybe i'm being a little Optimistic here but i got the uh Two space heaters on standby so i can Put a 3000 watt load on it [Music] [Music] [Music] So [Applause] Well this is going to make for a pretty Short video There's really not much wrong with this Thing other than it still needs a Battery But as you saw it started first pull And i panicked a bit when i saw there Was no power but Both the gfcis where someone had hit the The test button Thankfully that's all it was so once i Reset those We got power to the outlets and the Engine was running a bit fast so i Dialed that back A touch i think it was at 63 hertz under
No load And once i adjusted it it was 62 hertz Under no load And about 60 hertz under a 3 000 watt Load So there's really nothing more to do Other than get that battery ordered Which i'm not going to bore you guys With Replacing the battery but overall i'm Pretty impressed With this generator the xt8000e So i hope this video helps someone Thanks for watching
